Code reference
Marlinspike uses codes to make records easy to identify.
A code is shown to users. A separate internal ID is used by the application in the background.
How codes work
Codes usually contain:
- a short prefix
- a source or vessel/cloud indication
- a year
- a serial number
The serial number starts again each year.
Examples
PR is used for purchase requests.
PO is used for purchase orders.
AC is used for asset components.
Internal IDs
Every record also has a unique internal ID.
Users normally do not need this ID.
Use the visible code when you discuss a request, order, certificate, asset or other record with another user.
