Marlinspike uses codes toare makegenerated records easyoften to identify.give a unique and traceble identification to an item.

AThese codecodes follow a standard pattern:

  • The serial number is shownresetted every year.
  • The source can be either Cloud (C) or Vessel (V).

Next to users.the Acode, separateeach internalitem within the application receives a unique (UUID)ID. For example: 3043f9-540f-4032-bb36-99e9964f0626. However, this ID is solely used by the applicationdatabase and application.

How codes work

Codes usually contain:

  • a short prefix
  • a source or vessel/cloud indication
  • a year
  • a serial number

The serial number starts again each year.
