Vessel Locations

Vessel Locations

Vessel Locations define the onboard location tree used by inventory, hospital equipment, maintenance parts and other workflows that need a physical location.

Required permissions

You need:

  • Access Settings Module (settings-access)
  • Manage Locations (settings-locations)

Open Vessel Locations

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Locations.

Expand or collapse the location tree

  1. Open Settings > Locations.
  2. Use Expand all locations to show or hide nested locations.
  3. Open individual branches when you only need to inspect one part of the vessel.

Create a top-level location

  1. Open Settings > Locations.
  2. Select New location.
  3. Enter the location name.
  4. Enter the location code.
  5. Leave the parent empty or set it to the root option if the location should be top level.
  6. Save the location.

Create a sub-location

  1. Open Settings > Locations.
  2. Find the parent location in the tree.
  3. Use the add action on that parent location, or select New location and choose the parent in the form.
  4. Enter the sub-location name and code.
  5. Save the location.

The full location code is built from the location and its parent structure. Use short, consistent codes so locations remain easy to read in inventory screens and exports.

Edit a location

  1. Open Settings > Locations.
  2. Find the location in the tree.
  3. Select the edit action.
  4. Change the name, code or parent location.
  5. Save the location.

Delete a location

  1. Open Settings > Locations.
  2. Find the location in the tree.
  3. Select the delete action.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

Before deleting a location, check whether it is used by inventory, hospital equipment, maintenance parts or other records.
